HDCP is a copy-protection scheme used with HDMI and other connections. How does it work, and why has it given consumers so many problems?

My switch won't let me watch Hulu because of this. Well it pops up randomly at least
When i tried playing youtube on nintendo switch via capturecard passthrough to tv i got HDCP error. I am getting cancer now.
And what about DisplayPort?
hit or miss
4k firestick rip off
I noticed this just today.
Downloaded a movie that was 4k for my 4 and 5 year olds and plugged in an hdcp cable.. Didn't work. Plugged in an older hdmi 2.0 and it worked..
Use a regular hdmi 2.0 Cable. There are a few catches though…
HDMI 1.4 supported 4K resolutions, yes, but only at 24 or 30 frames per second. That works fine for movies, but isn't useful for gaming and many TV broadcasts(which aren't fully implemented anyway), which require 50 or 60 fps. Also, HDMI 1.4 limited 4K Ultra HD content to 8-bit color, though it is capable of 10- or 12-bit color.
Bit depth describes the number of potential values that the encoding of color information in a video signal can have. Historically, Blu Ray has been 8 bit, which means 256 possible values for red, green and blue. UHD Blu Ray is 10 bit, giving 1024 values for RGB. 12 bit color provides 4096 values for RGB.
Hit or miss. I guess they never miss, huh?
Gd
I have a question how to fix 28" 4k hdr monitor eyecare no settings nothing at all can you please help me out
Anyone else here after HULU stopped working on the Nintendo Switch?
1:04 You said the wrong acronym
I plan on using the splitter method to bypass HDCP. However, are there splitters that that work with multiple inputs rather than outputs? I want to have my PS3 and PS4 plugged into one device, but because of HDCP my PS3 will not work.
4:34 i guess they never miss ha
I just came here because I figured out that this shit is making me turn my PC monitor from 144 Hz to 120 Hz everytime I want to stream something from Netflix or Tidal. If I don't do that, I get static snow all over my screen ;(
If your HDMI cable uses HDCP 2.2 is it a HDMI 2.0?
Hit or miss i get they never miss huh
Hit or miss? I guess they…..
LMAO "Or S-H-I-T" = HDCP
I just got a new 4k monitor. It had HDMI 2.0 as does my ps4pro and I'm using a certified fast cable but ps4 wont recognise monitor as 4k. Both options greyed out. 1080p and hdr work. Could this be an hdcp problem. I'm getting no where.
If Powerdvd won't handshake HDCP because your screen isn't HDMI, plug an HDMI device on the side and it will unlock. Brilliant technology 😀
Fuck this frekn tekno nerdy shit
I wanted to watch netflix on my "stupid TV" from my laptop, and all I have got was sound with black screen… it's good I have a second PS4 now…
I like that "also stands for 's-h-i-t'"
3:15 Look Sony, you made your point, let us disable HDCP on PS3 like on PS4 for easier game recording
Movies and TV shows… and my android device. I'm ready to blow my fucking brains out, there has to be a way to disable this stupid bullshit but I can't find it. How do I figure this out?
