You can speed up your CPU by overclocking both the base clock and the CPU multiplier – but what’s the difference between these, and why are there two overclocking options in the first place?

Thank you so much for this video. I haven't been able to get a direct answer about which I should use.
i saw on the program CAM while i played gta v that my amd ryzen 5 2600x on a msi x470 gaming plus with a max bus speed of 202,1MHz and 8082MHz clock speed. I dont know if that is a bug or my system is just overkill
What about underclocking my base clock? Could that cause stability issues?
Wow Linus great 3.5Ghz example! My system: A6-7400K 3.5GHz XD
The best BCLK overclock I got was 103.7 stable with a i7 8700 on a AsRock z370 extreme 4… That board is BOSS.
thanks to techquickie i have overclocked my brain to 6 times faster.
My dual xeon workstation only allows base clock overclocking. I am trying to get higher speed for real time physics simulation so this is my only way. 107Mhz seems stable for me but I still want it go higher like 115 or even 125Mhz.
What do i set the fch core clock at? To get 4ghz? Using msi x470 with ryzen 5 2600x. Also its the 2019 bios update
BLCK 102.5
CPU Ratio ×45
i7-6700K
This is why my Pc is black
Linus, Linus, Linus *smh*. As you should well know EUFI REPLACED the BIOS. There is no such thing as a "UFI BIOS." You either have EUFI or you have a BIOS. EUFI can emulate a bios for the purposes of booting, only. it is not infact a bios.
0:07 …if we were older, then we wouldn't have to wait so long…
just in case any of you do this, make sure to have a shorting device to reset your bat if your pc can still function
So multiplier overclocking CPUs are CPUs using Kaioken?
I find that I hit like more because of a pun or segway than I do because of the content.
I got my ryzen 5 1400 to 3.8 from 3.2 preatty nice
210 * 22.5 + 1.4V = Crash + 200W
Guess the CPU family
Is it just me, or does Linus sound like he's talking into a can in this video?
Can i overclock this comment ?
Oh good old times, i got extra 1.4ghz out of my i7 860 easily with BCLK modifier. No overheating or other that bullshit my 8086k does if i try those numbers.
Hehe, that reminds me of my old 2500K. I've had a MSI Z77 motherboard and when raising the baseclock, my SATA controller didn't work at all. But when raising it a little more (I think it was around 20% over stock), the SATA controller started to work again, but no PCIe lanes worked. That was a great time…
Thanks…great video.
UEFI? What's that? I have a Gigabyte P67a-UD4-B3 motherboard. My bios menu is the classic plain blue background with white text :'(
Front Side Bus overclocking is where you get stripes on you belt.
Why this video doesn't have regenerate subtitle like linus tech tips channel? I wondering the all channel that you have.. 👍👍
i have an IST teacher who i absolutely loath his name is Mr Morris. This video is much better.
remember boardjumper 100&133 mhz?
Anyone asking that obviously never handled a 386, 486 or Pentium mobo/cpu lol. I remember being happy I got my Pentium 75 to run stable as a Pentium 90 (big upgrade back then).
I'm sorry to say this but I've noticed this for a long time now, more or less on some Linus' videos. Linus' voice in some videos, like with this one, is horribly overprocessed to the point it doesn't sound natural anymore. It sounds more metallic or something. Do any other people notice this? I saw a comment about bad audio quality, but it's not that, I'd just say it's the processing of the audio that went over the line for me. It hasn't always been like this since I haven't noticed it when I watched LMG videos years ago, so what happened? And it isn't always like this, sometimes Linus sounds more natural but sometimes it's just too much.
He has a mental block on tying shoelaces?
Next video: Why are videos sponsered?
Great job
Yea I overclock my old AMD Phenom II x6 1055t from 2.8ghz to 4.0 using just the base clock (since multiplier is locked). Works perfectly and super stable. It also runs decently cool which I wasn’t expecting
are you wearing earrings ?!!
