Samsung to Launch Galaxy A80 in India This Month

Samsung is reportedly all set to launch its next Galaxy A-series smartphone in India this month. According to IANS, which recently spoke to Yeon Jeong Kim, head of innovation and product planning group at Samsung Electronics, the Galaxy A80 will be available for purchase in the country from later this month, although, the exact launch date remains a mystery for now.

Speaking to IANS, Yeon said that the Indian market is paramount for Samsung, and the company intends to maintain its leadership position in the country. According to him, “Our target is to maintain the top position in the Indian smartphone market. If we win the Indian market, we can win any global market. Indians love technology, therefore, we launch many of our products here and would continue to do so”.

The Galaxy A80 is one of the more premium smartphones in Samsung’s first-gen Galaxy A lineup, featuring a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Infinity-U Super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 730G processor, a 3700mAh battery with support for 25W fast-charging and Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. However, the USP of the phone is its rotating triple camera setup that can be used as both the rear-facing primary camera, as well as the front-facing selfie-cam.

Unlike the Galaxy M-series and like other Galaxy A-series phones, the upcoming A80 will be sold via both online and offline channels in the country. Samsung sold a record five million units of its Galaxy A-series phones in just 70 days, starting March 1, achieving $1 billion in revenue. The company has so far launched six Galaxy A-series models in the country, including the A50, A30, A20, A10, A70 and A2 Core.
